LED Display

A screen specified by pitch, size, brightness and the distance it is read from — never by how many LEDs are in it.

How big does your sign have to be?

Tell us how far away it has to be read from. The letters below are drawn to the height they would actually need — the doorway and the person are there for scale.

These are estimates from the standard rules of thumb, not a quote. A real quote states the cap height, the illumination type, the return depth, the load in watts, the duty class and the warranty in months, for your building.

These are the industry ranges, not a quotation. Pitch sets the viewing floor: a P3 screen is not better than a P10, it is legible closer. Brightness is a function of the light it competes with, so an outdoor screen is specified against the sun rather than against a catalogue. A quote states pitch, physical size, brightness in nits, viewing distance, load, control method and warranty.

What this covers

Fabricated signage

Your name, built and lit — face-lit channel letters for a shopfront, halo-lit lettering for a reception wall, light boxes where frontage matters more than depth.

  • Cap height ≈ 25 mm per 3 m of reading distance
  • Return depth 60–100 mm
  • Halo standoff 25–50 mm

LED display

A screen specified by what it has to do: the distance it is read from, the light it competes with, and the hours it runs. The LED count is an output of that, never a selling point.

  • Shopfront P3–P5 · 1,500–3,000 nits
  • Street-facing P6–P10 · 3,500–5,000 nits
  • Minimum comfortable viewing distance ≈ pitch in mm

Lighting and control

Zones on their own schedules, dimmed after midnight, and an installation that reports its own health instead of waiting to be noticed.

  • Duty classes: trading hours, dusk to dawn, continuous 8,760 h/yr
